I am proud to announce the completion of our 2nd full-season, and our new
501(c)3 non-profit status!
In May 2004 I graduated from American University, ready to jump into working full-time
for whatever theatre organization offered me the best paycheck and best working
conditions. In reality, I was well aware that it wouldn’t be so easy. Rather than
depending and waiting on others to determine my future, I decided to forge ahead and
create my own work by directing a show. I organized a team of designers, selected
and researched a play, venue, and all of a sudden I was ready to cast and rehearse.
However, who were we? With what company were we affiliated? It is then that I realized
my ideal future career was happening before my eyes, many years earlier than I
expected or planned. Excited by the challenge, I pulled all my resources together and
began working on not only directing and producing my first professional full-length
show, but also forming my own production company: Didactic Theatre Company.
During our first year, I was fortunate enough to have Dana Edwards and Christopher
Carroll join me in my crazy theatrical endeavour to form our official Board of Directors.
With the overwhelming support and patient guidance of professionals in a variety of
fields, sponsors, friends and family, I am proud to say this company is about the
learning process. Be it acting, directing, designing, researching, producing, or
fundraising -- we create theatre as an ensemble force. Through educating and
entertaining ourselves as often as the audience, I look forward to Didactic Theatre
Company continuing to bring great new things to the DC theatre community.
