Expectant mothers and nervous fathers be warned. Christpher
Durang's
Baby with the Bathwater could be hazardous to your
optimism. Durang's tart and trenchant satire of modern
child-rearing, seen through the lives of John and Helen, two
parents whose efforts to provide the best for their child brings out
the worst in them.
Baby with the Bathwater is told in a half dozen
scences teeming with non sequiturs, slapstick, and comedy that
borders on Dadaism. But behind the veneer of absurdity lies a
sharper, more sober point about growing up and being loved.
